Daniel Wagner from Rheinhessen is one of the "young and wild ones" who, with talent and passion, has succeeded in catapulting himself from the solid wine industry of his ancestors to the top of the German wine scene. Today, the Wagner-Stempel winery operates modern viticulture on 16 hectares of vineyards, which is characterized by careful, organic care in the vineyard, selective hand-picking, gentle grape processing and sensitive expansion in the cellar.
Wagner's Porphyry Rieslings are stylistically absolutely independent and make up almost 50 percent of the total: very clear, very classy and the best ambassadors of a volcanic soil. Daniel Wagner presented such a convincing collection that both experts and the trade press voted him “Newcomer of the Year 2009” (Gault Millau) and awarded him the Riesling Prize (Der Feinschmecker).
