Meet the Team

Garret

Garret, fearless leader, the main man, el hefe. Garret may be the owner but that doesn’t mean he’s not here every day showing us all how it’s done. If you’re a regular then you’ve definitely met Gar, he’s the guy who’s gone out of the way to make sure your experience in store is the best you’ve ever had. He’ll organise your party drinks with gusto or recommend a fabulous fine Bordeaux. Garrets ‘go to’ recommendations are his wedding wines (he seems to have had quite a few..)

Catherine

Catherine, second in command and here from the very beginning. That’s 10 years for anyone who’s counting! Linchpin might be a cliched term but I can guarantee that Catherine is definitely holding this place together with sheer work ethic and attention to detail. There probably isn’t a wine in the shop that Catherine hasn’t tried so her recommendations are spectacular. She always provides some much needed ‘Natural Wine’ scepticism (we cant all be fanatics).

Alison

Alison has been with Baggot Street Wines since Day 1! Garret and Alison married in 2016 and they are the proud parents of beautiful Pearl. You could say that Baggot Street Wines brought their whole family together!....If she's not in the shop you'll find her dining in one of Dublin's many great eateries, (to be ticked off her never-ending bucket-list) or sipping on a rum and ginger beer with a generous chunk of lime. Alison has her Intermediate WSET Certificate and particularly enjoys Spanish reds and whites. Fond of a beer, her craft beer glass collection is also expanding at a great rate! Originally from Claremorris in Co. Mayo, she knows what it's like to be an underdog but still insists Mayo are number 1!

Shay is Garret's Dad and helped Garret set up the shop back in 2011! He's more likely to be floating about in retirement these days but still loves a drop of vino now and again!

Lorena es buena onda! everybody’s favourite Chilean, Lorena has been with us for 3 years now (time flies). She’s become an indispensable member of the Baggot Street Wines family, with her amazing work ethic and vast knowledge of wines (and can tell you about every wine region in Chile, naturally).

Colette

Colette is the type of employee who makes every customer feel like they’ve just bought something from a friend. You might suspect it’s all an act, but I promise she really is that affable. If ‘volume of tea drank a day’ was a world record then we suspect Colette would win hands down, but she does find space for wine and beer as well so don’t worry her recommendations are top notch! She’s no slouch with the studies also, having passed her Level 3 WSET.

Tim

Tim may be too polite to brag, but he’s got one of the best tasting palettes in the country. He’d have to because he’s completing his WSET Diploma, which is a formidable wine exam. He uses that highly trained nose to sniff out some excellent wines for the discerning customer.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Ruairí joined Baggot Street in May 2025. With a background in bars and a solid knowledge of spirits, she’s now diving into the world of wine with an open and a curious palate. She’s especially drawn to Burgundy Pinot Noirs, but also anything a little off the beaten path. A big fan of cooking and playing around with food pairings, Ruairí’s enjoying discovering how wine fits into the wider world of flavour and culture.
