Description
2023 Wine Spectator Wines of the Year
Number 7
This is the very exclusive Chianti Classico that is made from Sangiovese grapes grown exclusively in Antinori's Tignanello estate. It is very fine wines from a very fine estate and is almost considered to be a mini-Tignanello.
Flavours of Morello cherries, tea leaf and vanilla. An ample palate, it has superb elegance and an gorgeous supple character to the finish.
The Tenuta Tignanello is not only very special, it is also really quite large, covering 319 hectares. However, only 130 of these are planted with vines, which shows how careful they are to ensure that only the best grapes are grown on sites suited to their specific qualities.
It's an expensive attitude, but the repayment in terms of quality, not to mention the desirability of the resultant wines, is immense.
