For the 2020 vintage, Mikkeller had the honour of visiting the famous cherry winery and orchard and harvesting their own cherries. They also got to visit and talk with owner Harald, and winemaker Jonas, and pick their brains a bit. After a day full of tasting and learning about cherry wine production, they headed home with a brain full of knowledge and ideas on how to improve their beloved cherry beer.The result was a shorter maceration than previous vintages, with twice daily pump-overs to maximize skin exposure and keep the temperature of the maceration homogenous. They are ecstatic with the results and hope that you will be too.
