Characteristic of wines from Vinho Verde, this has a crisp acidity and minerality as well as a light spritz-like effervescence. Tropical fruit aromas of mango, peach and orange mix with a strong floral presence. Zippy flavours of lemon zest, grapefruit and tangerine bounce on the palate complimenting a persistent finish.

Description
While the Alvarinho grape is well known to Irish drinkers, both Loureiro (“Laurel-scented”) and Avesso are lesser known here but are considered as pillars of the Vinho Verde style. Although Vinho Verde translates as “young” or “green” wine, the name itself refers to a region that is lush and verdant, untypically Portuguese you might say. Anselmo Mendes is considered an elder statesman here. As a pioneer with decades of experience and awards he almost single-handedly put the region on the map. Now considered one of Portugal’s leading producers, his wines represent incredible value for money and will leave you wanting more.
