  • Trebbiolo La Stoppa 2017
    Emilia-Romagna, Italy
    60% Barbera, 40% Bonarda
60% Barbera, 40% Bonarda grapes from organic vineyards. The younger version of the traditional blend of Colli Piacentini, obtained from the local varieties Barbera and Bonarda, born from the selection of the bigger berries, as well as from the younger as well as the lower parts of the vineyards. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, in stainless steel and cement tanks. "Wild, earthy, yeastiness on the nose, incongruously like fresh vanilla pod with its earthy sweet-leathery notes. Aromas of small berries, blackberries, myrtille. Dryish on palate, which is meaty, earthy, spicy, sweet earth, lardo, reminds me of Bellota ham and refreshing acidity. Youthful and purple and vibrant. Cries out for a big plate of charcuterie and cheese and some top class air-dried hams." Le Caveau.

Bright fresh fruit nose, red cherry, light-to-medium bodied. Nice grip and savoury flavours on a palate structured by acidity." Le Caveau

  • Baglio Bianco Catarratto 2017
    Sicily, Italy
    Catarratto
"Baglio Bianco is deep amber in colour and unfined and unfiltered. This is a fantastic introduction to ‘orange’ wines both from a flavour and a pricing point-of-view. It receives 3 days skin maceration and has zero added sulphur. Notes of baked apples, cinnamon, nutmeg. The palate is dry, mid-weight, crisp with appealing richness and texture, a touch of skin tannins and those baked apple and spice notes following through. Mouthwatering and slightly savoury/salty on the finish, this would be brilliant with free-range pork rib with apple sauce, with a herby roasted chicken or with cheeses such as Durrus." Le Caveau.
