    Bordeaux, France
    59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc & 2% Other
-Neal Martin "I think this is an outstanding success this year. A very ripe plummy nose with a slight raisin note. Very rich and opulent with the Merlot dominating the aromatics. A very ripe palate with firm tannins and a good grip. Ripe blackberry and cedar. A very bold wine - probably the best Bernadotte that I have tasted. Excellent. 90-91 points"

  • 1999 Chateau Destieux, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
    Bordeaux, France
    65% Merlot, 35% Cabernet franc
Château Destieux is an 8-hectare domain located at the second-highest point of Saint-Emilion. From the top of its plateau, it overlooks the whole vineyard. The domain is owned by the Dauriac family. Advised by Michel Rolland, it is a very interesting Saint-Emilion, especially in great vintages like 1999. Still very strongly-colored, full-bodied, and tannic, these wines offer an elegant structure and develop very rich, fruity aromas. They have a good potential to improve with age.

  • 2016 Le Puy, Emilien, Francs Côtes de Bordeaux
    Bordeaux, France
    85% Merlot 7% Cabernet Franc 6% Cabernet Sauvignon 1% Malbec 1% Carmenere
"This is surely one of Bordeaux's most overlooked wine estates, writes Jane Anson after tasting vintages spanning the past century at Château Le Puy, owned by the same family for more than 400 years and a firm believer in biodynamics." Emilien is matured in oak barrels and casks for 24 months. The robe is garnet red, with hints of ruby in the younger wines and a touch of orange in the older vintages, with a diaphanous onion-skin finesse to the oldest bottles. The nose is fruity, with ripe red fruit aromas dominated by blackcurrant and redcurrant, accented with roasted almond notes and occasional hints of mushrooms and undergrowth. The palate is well-rounded, full-bodied, and precise, with velvety tannins paving the way for a finish that is long and enjoyably complex.
