The goal of Première Rosé is to express the unique terroir found at La Londe where Figuière is located. A blend of Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and Grenache with a short two to three-hour maceration on the skins. Tasting Notes Figuière aims for tight wines that express the unique terroir of coastal Provence. Première Rosé shows complex aromas and flavors of nectarine, thyme and lavender, and white flowers. The wine has a persistent freshness thanks to cooling breezes from the Mediterranean and an underpinning of salty minerality thanks to La Londe’s distinctive schist soils.

    "Home to the first Gigondas vines in 1376, Domaine des Bosquets is today run by brothers Laurent and Julien Bréchet with the same commitment to quality as at Château de Vaudieu. The 26 hectares of vines are up to 75 years old and lie at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail. Julien has identified three distinct soil types at different altitudes within his vineyards: marl at 250-300 metres above sea level; sandy clay at 200-220 metres; and blue clay at 170 metres. These offer the potential for varying ripeness levels and fruit characters in the wine. All the vines are cordon-trained for the optimum exposure and ventilation of the grapes, and the fruit is hand-harvested and goes through rigorous selection. The Gigondas is a blend of different parcels and is dominated by 75% Grenache, with 20% Syrah, 3 % Mourvèdre and 2% Cinsault. It has a lift and balance, as well as a powerful fruit character. The wine is aged for 18 months in total. For 12 months it ages separately: the Syrah is aged in 228-litre oak barrels, the Grenache is aged in 600-litre barrels and the rest is aged in concrete tanks. All three are then blended and bottled six months later. The 2011 Gigondas 'Le Lieu Dit' is from a 1.3-hectare parcel at 300 metres altitude giving the wine freshness as well as ripeness. It is made of 95% Grenache and 5% Syrah and is matured for 18 months, 12 months of which was spent in French oak barrels. A complex nose of sweet blackberries, red plums, roasted provençal herbs and macerated cherries. On the palate, this is a medium to full-bodied wine, with good structure, beautiful tannins and a clean finish.

    Famille Perrin is the owner and producer of the world-famous Chateauneuf du Pape Chateau de Beaucastel. This is one of their everyday reds from the vineyards of Ventoux in the south of the Rhone valley. The wine is soft and plush with delicious, bright, red and black fruits tinged with hints of spicy clove and black pepper. This is the sort of wine that made the Rhone popular for its great everyday reds. The nose is enticing with notes of red fruit and morello cherries. The palate has refreshing acidity and is well-balanced with juicy fruit flavors and soft, plush tannins.

    This southern French variety has been planted in southern Chile for well over 100 years but has only recently been making wines as good as this juicy, peppery, and wonderfully vibrant red. A bright ruby color, the wine has perfumes of fresh blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries alongside notes of wildflowers and country herbs. Juicy with hints of spice, the short period spent in oak adds complexity to the nose and ensures smooth rounded tannins.

    Secateurs – shape our bush vines during the winter pruning and are used to pick the ripe grapes in summer. Our family has, for the last three generations, nurtured our vines so that they can produce fruit of integrity. The aromas are perfumed, peppery, spicey, smokey, and exhibit ripe red fruit notes. As always the palate texture of this style of wine is supple, smooth on the entry but with enough grip and freshness to finish dry and refreshing. In the mouth, the texture and fineness of fruit tannin and drinkability of the wine is immediately evident. The grapes used are from our farm and from our neighbour’s excellent fruit. Most vines are mountain sloped bush vines. We maintain that high-quality fruit comes from old un-irrigated bush vines grown on a variety of granite soils that are naturally low-yielding.

    The colour is a deep dark red, perhaps darker than usual at Chateau Musar. The nose is a complex intriguing mixture of figs, prunes, leather, dark tea, tobacco, black olives and spices with a certain earthiness. On the palate you will find ripe black cherries, figs, damsons - even chocolate and olives. There is good acidity with nice smooth tannins resulting in a wine which is full bodied, rich and velvety with a very long finish.
