Quinta dos Aciprestes Tinto Douro

Quinta dos Aciprestes Tinto Douro

From the oldest demarcated wine region in Europe, this red is full-bodied and very lush! On the nose, smooth aromas of plums and dark cherry are followed by subtle notes of vanilla. The palate is rich in flavours, with notes of riped fruits, good structure and a well-balanced finish.

Description

Since 1860, Quinta dos Aciprestes has been a successful conglomerate of three neighbouring quintas. The original quinta, named Cyprestes, was founded during the 18th century by D. José de Seabra, one of D. Maria I, Queen of Portugal’s ministers, and later passed onto his sucessor the Viscounts of Baía.

Today, Quinta dos Aciprestes extends for over 2 kilometres on the left bank of the Douro river, facing the tributary Tua river. The quinta is easily identified by the cypress trees, located by the house, and for its characteristic landscape of vertical vine plantation, highlighted by the absence of the traditional terraces, result of the recent reconversion that took place in the vineyard.
