The wine is velvety, concentrated with fine tannins and notes of cassis and sour cherry aromas. It has a pithy, savory finish with an elegant lick of sweet vanilla spice. The wine is aged in new and two-year-old oak barrels. Abanico is the Spanish word for fan, as pictured on the label. This refers to the Spanish lady who ran the estate during the 1980s.

Grape VarietyAlfrocheiro, Jaen, Touriga Nacional
Description
"Classic blend wine, Abanico Reserva is born from different vineyards of Casa da Passarella. The grape varieties used are Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, and Jaen, and respecting the balance of the different plots chosen, we harvest the grapes manually for boxes of 12kg. Fermentation takes place in traditional cement vats and maceration is done pre and post-fermentation, maturation is done partially in new French oak barrels for one year, and the whole stabilization process for bottling is done in a natural way – we do not subject this wine to any kind of filtering." The wine is velvety, concentrated with fine tannins and notes of cassis and sour cherry aromas. It has a pithy, savory finish with an elegant lick of sweet vanilla spice.
