Bekaa Valley, LebanonCinsault (50%), Syrah (35%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%)Chateau Musar has become something of an icon wine over the last decades yet such is its price these days for mature vintages, this youngster gives everyone the opportunity to see what all the fuss is about before breaking the £20 barrier to invest in the real thing. It is made with the same care and affection but is like a watercolour painting to an oil. Both can be great art but one is more imposing than the other at times. Musar Jeune Red is a deep scarlet colour with a beguiling, smokey, black fruit nose, showing rich blackberry and mulberry notes tinged with spice. A good concentration of pure, black and red cherry fruit on the palate is supported by juicy, fresh acidity. With its soft tannins, it is balanced and long and best enjoyed in its youth.

Bekaa Valley, LebanonCabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, CinsaultThe colour is a deep dark red, perhaps darker than usual at Chateau Musar. The nose is a complex intriguing mixture of figs, prunes, leather, dark tea, tobacco, black olives and spices with a certain earthiness. On the palate you will find ripe black cherries, figs, damsons - even chocolate and olives. There is good acidity with nice smooth tannins resulting in a wine which is full bodied, rich and velvety with a very long finish.
