Description
Château Fleur de Lisse is located in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse in Saint-Émilion. Owned by the Minvielle family from 1940 to 2015, the Château was acquired in 2015 by the Teycheney family, who have a particular interest in biodynamic farming. The property’s 8.66 hectares of vineyard are currently midway through the organic and biodynamic certification process.
The vines have an average age of 45 years. They lie on a rocky outcrop of calcareous silt soil, which encourages the roots to dig deep to access water and nutrients, giving the finished wines excellent freshness and acidity. Winemaker Nicolas Géré, who worked with Jean-Louis Chave before returning to Bordeaux, is uncompromising in his search for purity and elegance in the fruit. With a strong belief in the transition to biodynamic farming, Nicolas and his team have helped to restore the ecosystem in the vineyards by using highly effective growing techniques, and placing beehives and chickens among the vines.
