In the Benjamin de Rothschild and Vega Sicilia winery is born one of the most desirable monovarietal of the Rioja region. Both firms share the idea of making great wines in La Rioja. After 5 years of terroir evaluation and acquisition of 92 ha of vineyard, the project takes shape in 2009 with the first vintages Macan and Macan Clasico.
Tasting Notes
“This wine is clean, modern and balanced, with integrated oak and the classical berry flavors with a spicy twist. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with some grainy tannin and enough elegance to counterbalance the natural power. I would say it's a very successful 2015, a vintage that is over-delivering in many cases. It was bottled in May 2017. Luis Gutierrez, WA.

Grapes
Tinto Fino. Region: Ribera del Duero, Spain.
Tasting Notes
This wine is silky, voluptuous and jammy, ripe and generous without being too much. The grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts in oak vats, and the wine matured in new and second use French barriques for 12 to 14 months. It's quite ripe and powerful yet balanced and with great freshness. The palate is medium to full-bodied with lots of fruit, juicy and showy, modern without excess. Drink now - 2030

Tempranillo. Region: Toro, Castilla y Leon, Spain.

Many consider Vega Sicilia to be one of Spain’s ‘First Growths;’ and responsible for the illustrious reputation of the Ribera Del Duero. It was founded in 1864 by Don Eloy Lecanda y Chaves, who arrived from Bordeaux with cuttings of local grapes (Cab. Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec) and planted them, together with Spain's signature grape Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) in Ribera del Duero.
Tasting Notes
It has aromas of violets and delicate cedar, with a fresh, balanced, rounded palate displaying rich, dense notes of redcurrant and damson that run smoothly over the tongue. There's an edge of acidity and a finishing boom of warmth. A subtle change in the oak regime sees this in 90% new oak (rather than the traditional 100%), and 80% French and 20% American oak (a shift towards more French oak).

Tasting Notes
Intense, expressive and complex. The nose reveals its aging potential with a range of aromas that perfectly balance the presence of wood with the expressiveness of the fruit. There are also nuances of chocolate, smoke and pencil lead with balsamic, vanilla and spiced notes. On the palate it reveals its character with elegance and silkiness, leaving a powerful fruity and meaty impression as it passes. Excellent storage capacity.
