Nose: Crisp red apple leads the introduction of yellow banana with the citrus zest of mandarin. The fruit merges with the ex bourbon barrel contribution of vanilla sweetness while the charred oak combines effortlessly with the pot still spices.
Taste: Not to contradict the aroma, succulent ripe fruits are to the fore slowly evolving through some peppery spices and settling in to a satisfying woodland character with hazelnuts representing the contribution of the best quality American oak.
Finish: Soft ripe fruit reluctantly gives way to the sweet nuttiness of American oak.
One of the final ever bottlings in it's original box before they were modernised. A hugely collectible whiskey. This whiskey sold out everywhere years ago and we have some of the final ever bottles to be available on the market.
Midleton Very rare was first released in 1984. Only 50 casks are released each year which makes them very collectible, especially older and harder to find vintages. The whiskeys used in the blend are hand picked by the Master Distiller, all triple distilled and have aged between 12 and 25 years in individually Bourbon or Sherry casks.
