Vina Ardanza is a fresh and elegant wine, with expressive, powerful fruits and a complex array of spices and sweet liquorice. There a round supple tannins, and great structure with a long and sleek finish. Drinking very well now, but will also reward a few years' ageing in the bottle. 94+/100 Luis Gutierrez. 80% Tempranillo -20% Garnacha

Description
La Rioja Alta is a very traditional Rioja winery, founded in 1890 in Haro at the heart of the Rioja region. The winery focuses on making red wines, mostly from Tempranillo with some Mazuelo and Graciano used, while Garnacha is also grown fro use in making their Vina Ardanza. Unusually for a Bodega of its size La Rioja Alta owns its own vineyards, some 360ha, from which they can select the best fruit to make rich and flavoursome wines.

Colette's Recommendation
A fantastic tempranillo blend that is ready to drink now but will also evolve over the next ten years. I love classic Rioja and this is my top pick.
