Tiago Sampaio is the young viticulturist and enologist of Folias de Baco, the project he founded in 2007. However, being the grandson of viticulturists in the Douro, we can say that it all started in his childhood. It is on his grandfather's back that he has his first contact with agriculture and the world of wines, learning to know a craft that was born out of pure curiosity and child's play.

It was this incurable fascination that led him to study agriculture in Santo Tirso, continuing five years of university studies in Vila Real. Completion of the agricultural engineering course opened the doors for the doctoral studies that followed, in Oregon, in Viticulture and Oenology. It was there that Tiago learned the most modern winemaking philosophies, never forgetting his roots in the cooler slopes of the Douro Valley, returning to start his own project with the old vineyards belonging to his family.

Since then, he has dreamed even higher, pushing the limits of his curiosity and developing his work in the field of sustainable viticulture and the production of natural wines. It is from this encounter between the winemaking traditions of the Douro - one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world, a naturally preserved land, with wild landscapes, sculpted by a temperamental river and the hard work of men - and its studies and research, that is born an irreverent and unique range of white, red, sparkling and sweet wines.
