A candidate for the "wine of the vintage," Pontet Canet's 2008 boasts an opaque purple color as well as copious aromas of sweet blueberries, blackberries and black currant fruit intertwined with lead pencil shavings, subtle barbecue smoke and a hint of forest floor. Full-bodied, with fabulous richness, texture and tremendous freshness, this first-growth-like effort is more developed than the uber-powerful 2010. Give it 5-8 years of cellaring and drink it over the following three decades. Bravo! Drink 2016-2046.
Grapes
Cab Sauv 65%, Merlot 30%, Cab Franc 4%
Producer On 81 hectares in Pauillac, Pontet Canet can trace its origins back to 1725. Owned by the Tesseron family, they have vastly improved the quality of Pontet Canet wines which are now full-bodied and packed with ripe, chewy, black fruits and finely integrated tannins. 5th Growth
Tasting Notes
100% biodynamic. Very attractive, full of creamy, blackcurrant fruit with grainy, ripe tannins. Layers of fruit swell across the palate whilst the finish is refreshing and full of concentrated fruit. A worthy addition to any cellar.

Muscular and defined, powerful. A core of beautifully defined, luscious, cassis and blackcurrant fruit provides weight and a light touch of sweetness whilst the long finish has a gentle, stylish and graceful uplift. Drink now to 2030.

Tasting Notes
The powerfully structured palate has savory hints of licorice and ripe black juicy fruit which all combine in a dense, brooding, almost muscular mouth-feel. This cabernet dominated wine will surely gain even more weight, finesse and elegance. Drink now - 2030.
