We can’t quite believe it but we’re turning 10 this year! It’s been quite the journey since we’ve opened our doors in July 2011. The shop may not look much different from those first few months but we’ve certainly added an immense amount of new wines, beers, and spirits since then. If you’re wondering what keeps us motivated it’s all about you, our loyal customer.

A few fun stats for you. In 2011 there were… Only 4 working distilleries on the island of Ireland, now we have 32 with more to come. (And we’ve got Spirits from nearly all of them!) There was 1 premium Irish Gin. ONE, now I can’t even count them. A respectable 15 craft breweries. Thats up to 70 now by the way!

We put our belief in the Irish drinks industry, just like you put your belief in us to bring you the best new products, and we like to think it’s worked out great for everyone.

It wasn’t always smooth sailing, especially the last year and a half (which felt like an extra 10) but we’re delighted and honoured to have made it to 10 years serving the community and all our amazing customers. We try never to take your business for granted, and we want to be here for you another 10 years, finding you the perfect wine pairing, the greatest whiskey gift or some big game beers!

Our Staff Favourites

Garret, the man in charge. He’s always been a huge supporter of the Irish drinks industry and the last few years it’s all been about Irish Whiskey. For his favourite Garret has chosen Teeling Renaissance Series 3, the latest limited release from Teeling Distillery in the Liberties. Being a proud Dub and Whiskey expert it’s the obvious choice!

Catherine, second in command. She’s been bringing great wine into the shop since we opened 10 years ago. More recently she’s spent the last few months trying all of our extensive Riesling range and the Schloss Gobelsburg Zobing Riesling from Austria is the cream of the crop. An easy Favourite!

Alex is our Jack of all trades drinks expert (he has an approximate knowledge of many things..) He’s dived into cocktail making in a big way over the last year and he reckons Kalak Peat cask Irish Vodka has got to be the most characterful Vodka on the market. A firm favourite for all you vodka fans!

Mike is one of our most experienced employees, with over 15 years in the industry. He’s also always in the mood to celebrate which is why he was never going to choose a favourite that wasn’t some top bubbly. This time he’s gone for Laurent-Perrier Rosé Champagne but he could be tempted by any top shelf offering!

Lorena es buena onda! everybody’s favourite Chilean. When she’s not drinking some fantastic Chilean wine, Lorena is all about Beaujolais, we don’t think we’ve gotten one in that she hasn’t tried. Her current favourite is Domaine Marcel Lapierre Morgon, all you Gamay fans take note. Colette is every customers best friend, and that’s no act she really is this friendly!

Colette is a big fan of the classic wine regions, and they don’t get much better than her favourite, La Rioja Alta Viña Ardanza Reserva 2012. We challenge anyone to not enjoy this cracking wine. Tim may be too polite to brag, but he’s got one of the best tasting palettes in
the country. He’s used that highly trained nose to sniff out his excellent staff favourite, Rafael Palacios ‘Louro’ Godello. It’s an incredible Spanish Godello with all the complexity of a great young Burgundy. A must for any white wine lover.

Daniel is the newest member of the team, joining us as part of his work experience for his culinary entrepreneurship degree in DIT. He may love a hard seltzer but his favourite at the moment is the Craft Cocktails Mai Tai from the fantastic Craft Cocktails team established in the middle of 2020 by the guys in Bar 1661. The Mai Tai is great but all the varieties are winners!
