Grape VarietyAlfrocheiro & Touriga Nacional
Description
António Madeira Tinto is a blend of the Alfrocheiro and Touriga Nacional varieties produced by the António Madeira winery in the DOC Dão in Beiras, Portugal.
António Madeira is a Frenchman of Portuguese descendant whose family origins lie in the heart of Dão, in Portugal, an area with extraordinary potential for making long-living, elegant and fresh wines. Madeira chose the area following extensive research to find the best vineyards where he could make his own wines as well as return to his roots.
The António Madeira Tinto wine is made with grapes that come from plots cultivated manually according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture, with minimal intervention and without adding chemicals. The clusters are traditionally trodden and then fermented with their native yeasts in open tanks. The wine is racked into used French oak barrels where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages for around 18 months, depending on the vintage.
