  • Midleton Very Rare 2013

    Midleton, co. Cork.

One of the rarest of all the Midletons, 2013 marked the end of an era that spanned 37 yers being Master Distiller Barry Crocket's last production of Midleton.

This rare 75cl bottle was destined for the US market but is now back where it belongs. Cane sugar that can be attributed to the influence of the well aged grain whiskey component. Followed by the pot still spices of vanilla and oak char. Within the combination you find dairy fudge, milk chocolate and green apples. Soft and mellow with a satisfying balance of confectionary sweetness through soft rip fruit to the more robust pot still spices.

The charred oak and barley grains contribute to the wonderful complexity. The succulent mellow flavours remain in balance and are slow to fade.

  • Glendalough Mizunara finish single malt 13 year old
    Wicklow, Ireland

    Distilled in Glendalough, co. Wicklow.

"This winner of World Best Irish Whiskey, is now the first, and only, Irish Whiskey released with a Japanese minuzara finish.

Extremely rare, and expensive, our virgin Japanese mizunara, comes from Hokkaido, the rugged most northern island of Japan. It is coopered to order in Japan's only independent cooperage, by Japan's oldest cooper. Mizunara amplifies much of what is already there while layering on more vanilla smoothness, sandlewood notes and even a little coconut, or gorse flower if you're from our neck of the woods.

This whiskey has very different and exotic flavours compared with what you'd expect from an Irish single malt. And there's not a lot of it around! This is one to snap up and savour.

The nose. Honeycomb, vanilla, apricot, and citrus. The taste.Velvety smooth with more vanilla, fudge, rock candy, peach and marmalade followed by sandalwood, cinnamon, and oriental spices. The finish. Put it this way... "The longest milk chocolate finish in the history of Irish Whiskey" Jim Murray. " -From Glendalough website-

  • Chinnery Gin 70cl
    Dublin, Ireland
A brand new favourite addition to our Irish Gin selection! "With Chinnery Gin, we wanted to capture some of the romance of the Old China Trade. In the early 19th Century, all trade with Imperial China was conducted at the southern port of Canton, by order of the emperor. Among the main commodities purchased there were silk, porcelain, tea and cassia. We searched the wholesale tea market at Canton for a very particular variety of oolong tea and combined it with cassia bark (sometimes known as Chinese cinnamon and often used in place of cinnamon) and osmanthus, a flower with a wonderfully sweet fragrance that is redolent of the very streets of Canton. Chinnery Gin evokes the romance and flavours of the Old China Trade with sweet oolong tea, spicy cassia bark and wonderfully fragrant oamanthus flowers." Chinnery distillery
