Description

Txakolina is a wine that comes from the Basque region in Spain and is made from Hondarrabi Zuri. The wines are extremely fresh and vibrant. Perfect for oily fish, pintxos (the Basque version of Tapas) or drunk ice cold on a hot day. If you ever get the chance to visit San Sebastian you will experience the intriguing way that Txakoli is served. It gets poured from a height which aerates and removes carbon dioxide from the wine. Most of the wine ends up splashing on the bar tops, but don't worry, you always get the same size serving and won't get short-changed! 100% Hondarribi Zuri. The vineyards are planted on the alluvial, clay soils over limestone in Artómaña (Arrastaria Valley-Álava). The fruit is hand harvested in small baskets and brought to the winery in the village for a very light pressing a pneaumatic press and fermentation is in stianless steel. After 6mth on the fine less the wine is racked and bottled. The wine is taut and alive, with emerging concentration as it opens up revealing a delicate pineapple, citirc, and earthy aromatic, with dense long lived palate.
